Glasgow Airport is Scotland's busiest international airport, with 8.6 million passengers a year. In the past ten years, passenger numbers have increased by over 60%.
Glasgow Airport is Scotland's principal transatlantic gateway, with flights to New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and several destinations in Canada, including Toronto and Vancouver.
Glasgow Airport also has Scotland's only direct link to the Gulf, with Emirates flying year round to Dubai, and onwards to 70 worldwide destinations.
Glasgow Airport hosts over 50 regular airlines and serves 94 direct destinations worldwide.
Glasgow Airport contributes over £700 million a year to the Scottish economy, and supports nearly 20,000 direct and in- direct jobs.
BAA Scotland has invested more than £200 million at Glasgow in the last ten years and plans to invest a similar sum over the next decade.
Driving: Access is via the M8 motorway at Junction 28. The airport is 8 miles west of Glasgow City Centre. Journey time around 10-15 minutes. Allow longer at peak times.
Parking - on airport: The airport has three main car parks to the terminal building. The new 2000 space multi-story car park is now open, offering short stay passengers quick and easy access to the terminal via the direct bridge link and optional Fast Track parking. Bus: All buses depart from the terminal forecourt. There are frequent services to Glasgow city centre with drop-off points near Queen Street and Central mainline railway stations and terminating at Buchanan Bus Station. Single fare to the city centre £3, return £5 (information: 08705 505050 & 0141 553 1313). Passengers travelling to Edinburgh should change at Buchanan Bus Station. Services are also offered to a variety of towns including Fort William, Kyle of Lochalsh, Dumbarton, Clydebank, Bridge of Weir, Greenock and Gourock where it connects to the ferry for Dunoon and the Western Highlands. Train: Frequent bus link to Paisley Gilmour Street Railway Station (2 miles) which offers services to Glasgow Central station, Ayr and the Clyde coast. Glasgow's Queen Street and Central stations offer a wide variety of rail services to destinations throughout Scotland and England. For information call 0345 484950. A direct rail link to Glasgow city centre has been approved and is currently in the planning stage. It should be operational by 2008.
Taxis: Taxis are available from the terminal forecourt where sample fares are displayed. Glasgow Airport to the city centre is approximately £16.50. All taxis are metered. The Airport Information desk is located on the first floor adjacent to the UK Arrivals/Departures area. Telephone 08700 400008.
